Welcome to the Rollingdale Winery Blog :)
Surprise marriage proposal at Rollingdale. A couple was planning a trip to Rollingdale Winery for their 5th dating anniversary. They had been to Rollingdale for their 1st anniversary and returned every year since. Before arriving, the man mailed in a custom label to us with a picture of himself holding a sign saying "Will You Marry Me?" with instructions. After their wine tasting, Katey showed her this extra bottle. Joe had a camera, hidden out of sight, waiting. Watch what happened here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3Z7_eLSV40
Our neighbour's donkey has befriended our dog and is starting to be a regular visitor at our cellar. Today she snuck inside while our backs were turned. I guess she wants to help out. At least we hope that's what she wants because we are pretty sure she is underage.
We started our morning today with blending trials of the Left and Right. It was a tough day on the job tasting a variety of blends to decide how to assemble our 2008 La Gauche and La Droite, but we got through it. We hope you like the choices we made!
Joe hard at work making important decisions that will effect the quality of my wining and dining for years to come.
Rollingdale's harvest is complete! Our wine maker, Joe Slykerman, is busy at work with our 2010 estate vintage. We look forward to our second certified organic estate Pinot Gris release which should be released sometime next spring.
There may not be any fruit left on the vines but there is still plenty of wine to fill your glass. We will be open this winter(still best to call ahead.) So come fill up on Ice wine stocking stuffer's or a big red to take the chill off a long cold night....
Rollingdale has changed the look of the wine labels. After five years with the original black and gold look, the switch is to a modern, clean and bright look. The crisp, white one piece labels feature a large rolling "R" connecting the back label to the front. The front is decorated with the original gold Rollingdale logo. The back has a brief description of the wine and finishes with the salutation: "From our cellar to yours." Look for the following wines with the new labels:
